Send three copies of each entry in all categories.
Regarding all entries: do
not include your name on the manuscript. Instead, include
a separate cover letter that includes the story/poem title,
your name, address, phone, and e-mail (if applicable) and
an entry fee of $15 per entry payable to
The Writers’ Network of South Florida. All entries must
be postmarked by March 17, 2008 to The Writers’
Network, 8127 Lakepointe Court, Plantation, FL 33322.
All entries that do not include an e-mail
address must include a S.A.S.E. for notification of winners.
Do not include credits or bio. Simultaneous submissions are
accepted. If accepted elsewhere, entries will still be considered
as long as they were not accepted for publication when entered.
Writers of any age will be accepted, but all entrants must
be residents of Broward, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Martin,
Collier or Lee counties in Florida.
Contest submissions will not be returned.
Entries sent by certified/registered mail requiring return
or signature receipts will not be accepted.
Submissions will be judged by a panel of three
writers and readers.
The Writer’s Network offers
cash awards of $200 to the winner, $100 to the first runner-up,
and $50 to the second runner-up in in the short story category.
Prizes of $100, $50 and $25 will be awarded in the picture
book and poetry categories. Certificates of achievement will
be given to the finalists in all three categories.
Contest finalists will be notified in
April and winners will be announced in May at the annual Writers’
Network of South Florida awards program. No entries
